Riding bikes with some people a la Connor & Jake—young, normal, think, white cyclists. While on the bike I hit a rock & tumble off the bike. I hit the dirt. It was dry, dusty. I tumble, roll right to the edge, but just before going over I stop myself. Something doesn’t make it though. An object slips into the abyss. I watch it float down, out of sight. I pull myself back up, pick up my bike & continue on. The guys inquire if I’m ok & I say, “yes.” We ride for a very short distance & come to some sort of apartment. The guys I’m with are happy to see other people. While sitting around, I ask if there’s a bike shop nearby—something is not ok with my bike. They laugh & say, “no. There’s nothing close to hear.” Still I venture out & stumble upon this warehouse. I’m with my bike. The front end is detached from the frame. The forks, front wheel, stem & handlebars are all still connected, but not to the bike. & something is off with my shoe—perhaps the cleat is missing. A person rides up on a small, bmx type bike & I ask about a bike shop. He says, “sure, there’s definitely one inside.” The warehouse is packed. Music & people, but the doors are all closed. I see one with what appears to be some hint of cycling. I open the door to find 2 people down a shotgun like corridor djing. They know nothing about bikes. I find another door and this one is a bike shop for sure: bikes on stands, bikes being fixed á la WRC. I show the clerk my bike & tell him how all I need is a little clip for the front end, but he tells me that they don’t have that piece. I leave. Outside my group is there. “Connor” is on a bmx & doing this trick where he kicks the bike out from under him, spins it around in a forward direction & jumps back on it. We ride. My bike works; the pressure of riding it keeps the front end together. As long as it’s not lifted up, it works. There’s a long distance to go, but I assure everyone that I’m good to go. (Did they ask?) They are talkative and doing tricks on their bikes. The vibe has changed. We come upon the same area where we started. As I’m riding, an animal comes in my path. A sheep, goat, etc. something with no horns, but a forehead that could do enough damage. The forehead part was off white, dirty, its hair matted down & the thick bone could be seen. Bumps here & there, but it looked, I don’t know impenetrable. The animal began chasing me, choosing my path. I hit the same rock & crashed my bike, this time though, while scrambling to the edge I grabbed the animal by its neck fur & took the animal with me. I knew I was going to die. The fall was too far to survive, but the last thought I had was that maybe if the animal hits first it will provide enough cushion for me to survive. Bruised, broken, beat up, but alive. I woke up mid flight. My arm was asleep.
